SMART policies to tackle drink driving in Portugal

In the framework of a European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) project Sober Mobility Across Road Transport (SMART), the Prevenção Rodoviária Portuguesa and the ETSC are organising an international conference on tackling drink-driving.

Representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Health are invited, as are local stakeholders, to take part in the debate. International experts from France and Sweden will discuss drink driving issues as well as raise awareness of the most effective measures to reduce the number of alcohol-related road deaths. The Portuguese Association of Brewers will also join the debate to share the role of the industry in tackling drink driving.

SMART aims to address the main issues related to alcohol and driving and to continue ETSC advocacy activities at both the EU and Member State levels to reduce the number of alcohol-related deaths. This event welcomes road safety professionals and those interested in the field of road safety or health and will be an opportunity to gather together EU road safety experts, national stakeholders and decision makers.
